A Special Visit: A Presentation on Nova Scotia Woods
On Wednesday, September 18th at 3:15pm, HPCC hosted a visit from Amy from the Department of Natural Resources, who spoke to our shool-age group.
Amy presented a program on woods safety, as well as nature and the animals we share it with. She brought some animal pelts and antlers for the children to touch. There was pointers given about the bears and coyotes that live in the woods that the children call theirs.
The children learned BAM B for Back Away A for Act Big M for Make Noise. This can be used when you see a wild animal in the woods.
The children also were able to touch a large turtle shell, a racoon pelt, bear and deer fur both summer and winter. Best of all they enjoyed the antlers that they were allowed to place on their heads.
